Directions/Location:

From New York City, New Haven and West:
Interstate 95 North to Connecticut Exit 65. Right turn at exit ramp light to second stop light in center of town. Left onto Route 1 East (Boston Post Road). Go up about half a mile. Water's Edge entrance will be on your right.  From NYC, approximately 100 miles and two hours driving time.
 
From Hartford, Springfield and North:
Interstate 91 South or I-84 West to Hartford. From Hartford, take I- 91 South to Route 9.  Then Route 9 South to Exit 3. Go through exit stop sign to second stop sign. Turn right onto Route 153 South and follow to the end of route until intersection with Route 1 in Westbrook. At light, turn left onto Route 1 East (Boston Post Road).  Go up about half a mile.  Water's Edge entrance will be on your right.  From Hartford, approximately 50 miles and an hours driving time.
 

From Boston, Providence and East
Interstate 95 South to Connecticut Exit 65. Left turn at the exit ramp to the third stop light in the center of Westbrook. Left turn at light onto Route 1 East (Boston Post Road). Go up about half a mile.  Water's Edge entrance will be on your  right.  From Boston, approximately 129 miles and two and a half hours driving time.

Essex Valley Railroad: Twelve mile steam train ride along the scenic Connecticut river. Offers optional river boat ride as well. Open May to October.

USS Nautilus Memorial: Board and tour the world's first nuclear powered submarine. Afterward, tour the Submarine museum. Open all year. Located in Groton

Guilford Handcrafts Center: Fine arts and handcrafts on display and for sale.

Gillette Castle State park: Hilltop fieldstone mansion overlooking the Connecticut River. Built by William Gillette in 1919 it is fascinating to young and old. Gillette portrayed Sherlock Holmes on stage in New York for many years. Picnic area nearby. Located in Hadlyme.

Sundial Herb Garden: Seventeenth Century knot garden, Eighteenth Century style garden and Topiary garden with fountain. Afternoons. Located in Higganum.

Mystic Marine Life Aquarium: Over six thousand species with 49 living exhibits and a Marine Theater. Located in Mystic.

Mystic Seaport: Authentic 19th Century ships, Maritime village and historic homes.

Peabody Museum of Natural History: One of the oldest University museums of natural history in the nation. Dinosaur, Indians of Connecticut, minerals, Connecticut birds. Located New Haven.

Yale University Art Gallery: 75,000 works of art from ancient Egypt to present. Located in New Haven.

Stonington Vineyards: Producing award-winning European-style wines for 17 years.  Located in Stonington.

Westbrook Hunt Club: Trail rides hay rides and horseback riding lessons. Located in Westbrook.

Connecticut River Foundation Museum: Right on the Connecticut River and home of the first submarine ever built and actually used in the revolutionary war. Located in Essex.

Stanton House: Late 18th century home still has the original furnishings. Located in Clinton.

Cruises: There are a large variety of cruises available in Connecticut. The Steam Train and Riverboat Cruise in Essex is one of the most popular. The Deep River Navigation Company in Saybrook has Saybrook Point Cruises and Harborpark Cruises. the River Queen in Groton offers sight seeing and sunset cruises. Many have live music aboard and serve meals.

Golf: Lyman Orchards in Middlefield offers an eighteen hole Robert Trent Jones course and eighteen hole Gary Player course. Both are PGA rated and open to the public.

Ferry Rides: Enjoy a leisurely ride from from New London to Block Island or Orient Point. Another favorite is the East Haddam on the way to Gillette Castle.

Antiques: The shops are so abundant throughout the state that they are easy to locate.

Crystal Mall/Waterford Commons: The largest shopping mall in the state. Located in Waterford.

Olde Mystic Village: Over sixty shops, stores and restaurants. Located in Mystic.

Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets: More than 70 factory direct stores. Located in Clinton just off I-95.

Tanger Outlet: Sixty factory direct stores. Located in Westbrook just off I-95.
